Zamba and Winged Collection (From Don Cristobal's Singapore and Beyond Open Shoot Series)

I was a busy bee lately. I was again invited to do the last two photoshoot for Don Cristobal creations. The themes were really fun to do and the wardrobe created by Don and his styling methods is just simply stunning. He has this ability to turn things into something spectacular. Our shoot is no less spectacular because of this man’s greatness. (Ok, do I sound like a dorky fan??? lol!).

Days after the event my Facebook wall was bombarded with the most astounding photos of the models. I was busy collating photos from the shoot and now confronted with the dilemma of taking only a few to incorporate in this blog. It is such a shame when in reality all I want to do is include everybody’s shots as they are all fantastic. Ok, enough with my dramatic interludes.
Lets start with make-up shall we?....

Saturday’s theme is ZAMBA, a fusion of animalistic ensemble and fierceness . We started the day very early, the models are all beautiful and we took over Fort Canning to serve as our back drop for the day. There’s two MUA’s who worked with the models that day. I must say I was smitten with Syariah, as she is just lovely to look at, A HMUA and a pretty lady at the same time. I bet she was also as excited as I was with the shoot. The two models I got to work with are, Geanna (An English Babe) who amazed everyone with her talent in evoking emotions in front of the camera, and there was also Lady Hana, this girl is “the bomb”. If some of you didn’t know she happened to be an HMUA, and she assisted me during the Dynasty photo shoot. I know you shouldn’t play favourites but with this two can I make an exception. These two gorgeous ladies have climbed the top lists of my favourite models I worked with.

So to give you guys an idea of the products and makeup techniques I’ve used on them, here is a list I gladly want to share with you all fine people.

On Nadd (Winged)
FACE

           Moisturizer – Clinique Moisture Surge

Foundation –   Revlon Photo Ready in Natural Beige
Concealer – Estee Lauder Smooth Crème Concealer
Powder – Bourjois Flower Perfection New Generation Loose Powder
Contour – I used E.L.F. Duo Cream Eyeshadow in Mocha Swirl as contour http://www.tara-shop.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=139_88_92&products_id=461  I also used grayish black eye shadow to contour and intensify his cheekbones and jaw line
EYES
Eye Primer – Too Faced Shadow Insurance http://www.tara-shop.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=139_88_94&products_id=465
Base – Black Eye Liner Pencil in Engraved
Eyeshadow –  Black Eyeshadow from the 120 Palette, and for the extended shadow I used the gold cream shadow and gold pigment to set it. For the leopard, Ms. Joy Gallego helped out, we both used MAC Engraved and POP Black Eyeliner
Brows – Black Eye shadow from the 120 palette
Liner –   MAC Engraved for the waterline the same product was used to do tight lining. (Tight line is a method to make the upper eye lashes seemed full and darker.  It’s putting black shadow or liner on the lower rim of your upper lash.  You can use a variety of ways to do this method. You can either use a flat push brush to apply black shadow or your trusty black eye liner). It is hard to do at first because its very easy to poke the eyes, so you have to be very patient and delicate when doing this technique.
Mascara – A small amount of Lancome hypnose mascara to darken his lashes.

LIPS
Black eyeliner to line hrt lips and creamy concealer to pale the lip area

Note: I wanted to intensify and give Nadd a very dark-smokey eyes. I took a bit of inspiration from the “Moon Of My Life”, Khal Drogo of Game of Thrones…hehehe!!! Kidding aside, I also used grayish black shadows to darken Nadd’s facial hair to give him a stronger look. Nadd has a good physique but in order to enhance the curves and plains of his body we applied contouring to emphasize his god-like physique. A bit of bronzer for his arms and chest was applied as well.

Dynasty: The Empress Strikes Back (Presenting Don Cristobal's Creation)

Ok, saying Don Cristobal is good is an understatement, the man is effin GENIUS!!! When Sir Ojie Ramos from BPP (Beyond Photography Production) approached me if I can do HMUA work for an open shoot showcasing Don’s creation I said yes straightaway without batting my eyelashes.

I do admit that every big project I take gives me the unavoidable panic attack before the big event and this is no exception. However, my nerves were somehow calm during the day itself as I have the most enjoyable people surrounding me. Besides, you couldn’t help but be inspired with Don’s creations.

The Dynasty collection consists of a Korean Empress, a Japanese Geisha and an Indian Princess. The models that day are all PRO so it’s easy for them to channel their character.

I used a mishmash of products to piece together the makeup. My first dilemma was how I am going to able to whiten the face of the Geisha without looking cakey or somehow ill. I was scramming through several makeup stores but the lightest shade I could find wouldn’t be as white as I intended the face to be. So just like any other day when I feel I could use some breather, one of the things that I normally do is to head to our local DAISO shop in Rivervale, and as if the store isn’t fitting with the Geisha theme (Note: Daiso is of Japanese origin), there in the special counter of beauty supplies displayed several white foundations, and powders. I bought a pale blue powder because I heard before that blue makes white even paler and yes it did work. And the best part is it didn’t cost me a fortune, its only S$2.00 just like the rest of the stuffs there. Thank GOD for Daiso...

So, now I have my powder I just need something to apply it with. My main concern in completing the look is to make sure that the makeup won’t come out cakey. Though white foundation isn’t natural looking, I still want it to look even and well applied. I did some shopping online and bought these 2 brushes. An E.L.F. Studio stipple brush and E.L.F. taklon blush brush. I ordered it quite late and I was supposed not to receive them before the event but the girl from the online shop went out of her way to meet me personally so she can give me the brushes. I tell you that is really good customer service. Giving me enough time to give them a good wash and for the brushes to dry. I was amazed with both brushes they didn’t bleed the first time I washed them. The brushes did well enough for their intended purpose, and for the amount I paid they are good brushes compared to the expensive MAC 187 Duo Fibre Stippling brush.

Visit http://www.tara-shop.com/ for your next makeup purchase.

Here are the products I used to put the whole look together:

On Jessica
