The beauty of Highlight and Contour

For better resolution, please visit my flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/75679257@N00/

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of learning on how to take photographs with a vintage and classy touch. And, I was also given the opportunity to paint the models faces.

Now I finally appreciate tutorials about highlight and contour.  It is mostly done on professional photo shoots. Contour and highlight if done well will give the best results.
It served me well on my recent photo shoot (I like to think that way, hehehe!). I used highlighter / illuminator in areas where sunlight hits to emphasize and give them a natural glow. I strategically applied highlighter on top of the cheekbone, bridge if the nose, top of the jaw line, top of the brown and top of the brow bone. As for contour, I used two shades darker than the skin tone to give the effect of shadows. I use contour just below the cheekbones, temples, below the jawline and I also outline the nose.

Products used on Sienna:

-         Revlon Photo Ready in Medium Beige (This product is nice to use on photo shoots)
-         Vichy Thermal Water (Used to set and keep the make up in place)
-         Coastal Scents Palette version 2 – I used the blue iridescent eye shadow and used the dark brown for contouring and the white highlighter.
-         MAC select sheer in NC30
-         NYX eye shadow base in skin tone (It helps the eye shadow to stick and helps the colour to come out)
-         The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes Palette 12 (I used twilight black, its actually a good dupe or substitute for MAC’s black tied eye shadow).
-         Maybelline gel liner in black
-         Paul & Joe face color for the apples of the cheek
-         Rimmel sexy curves mascara in black
-         Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Sheer Lipstick in Sheer Buff
-         Clinique  superbalm moisturizing gloss
-         Sasa eyelashes in 611
-         DUO eyelash adhesive

So, that’s my 2 cents…

I really want to have to have SLEEK make up. I want all their eye shadow palettes. Anyone from UK who’s kind enough to send me some, and if you’re generous enough add some of the blushers too. They are good stuff... Available at local drugstores...Good buy!!!

My first anime photo shoot. I have done the make-up as well. Taken a couple of month's ago in Fort Canning, Singapore.

Anne (the model) have very gorgeous and expressive big eyes, perfect for this type of shoot. I wanted to give her a a smokey-smouldering look. Emphasis was given to her eyes, so I kept the cheeks very light. While, the lips was given the same tone of red comparable to her fiery red hair.

Products used to complete this look:

- Revlon Photoready Foundation in natural beige
- NYX eyeshadow base in skintone
- NYX single eyeshadow in extreme apricot
- L'Oreal eyeliner pencil in black
- Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner in Black
- Body Shop Lipstick in Red
- Clinique lip shiner
- MAC pressed powder in NC30
- Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara in Black
- The Face Shop brushes

In the beginning

I've always wanted to have a blog, and now after a decade of dilly dallying here I am starting a new adventure with my personal musings narrated for the world wide web.... I am not a writer, nor an artist of some sort, so bare with me as I will try my best to update this blog of mine...
